      Rufus: Amazon’s AI-Powered Shopping Assistant Comes to India

      Amazon recently introduced Rufus, a generative AI-powered conversational shopping assistant in India. It is designed to enhance the customer shopping experience. The assistant leverages Amazon’s extensive product catalogue and web information to provide personalized assistance, product recommendations, and comparison tools.

      Amazon India announces the beta launch of Rufus

      Rufus is more than just a chatbot. It’s a sophisticated AI assistant that understands and responds to customer queries in a natural language format. Trained on Amazon’s vast product database, the AI assistant can provide comprehensive information on various products, assist in product comparisons, and offer tailored recommendations based on individual preferences and needs.

      Key Features of Rufus

      • Product Research Guidance: Rufus can help customers explore different product categories by answering questions such as “what to consider when buying a washing machine?” or suggesting relevant products based on specific occasions or purposes.
      • Personalized Recommendations: Leveraging AI algorithms, the shopping assistant can provide highly personalized product recommendations based on customer preferences, browsing history, and purchase behavior.
      • Product Comparison: Customers can easily compare different products based on their features, specifications, and prices, making informed purchase decisions.
      • Real-time Information: Rufus provides up-to-date information on product availability, pricing, and customer reviews, ensuring customers have the latest details before making a purchase.

      How Rufus Works

      To use Rufus, customers can simply click on the icon in the bottom right-hand corner of the Amazon.in mobile app. A chat dialogue box will appear, where customers can ask questions and receive relevant responses. The assistant can understand and respond to a wide range of queries, from general product inquiries to specific product comparisons.
